Analyzing the racialized body has been highlighted as a topic of vital importance, given that this theme carries profound meanings that influence diverse spheres of our society. Understanding how bodies are racialized and the complex processes that lead to this social construction is essential to unraveling the intricate webs of power that, in a very discreet way, shape both individual and collective experiences in various parts of the world. This work seeks to explore the paradigms that sustain prejudices and discrimination of a racial nature, shedding light on the need to recognize and confront the structures that perpetuate inequalities in a systemic and insidious way. This is a qualitative research, using literature review as a method. The following are presented: contextualization and importance of the topic, theoretical foundations, key concepts in racial studies, body and identity, social construction of race, racial paradigms, race as a social construction, prejudices and stereotypes, origins and manifestations of racial prejudice, racial discrimination, forms of racial discrimination in the contemporary context, structural racism, definition and characteristics of structural racism, psychosocial impacts, consequences of racial discrimination on mental health, resistance and activism, anti-racist movements and their strategies. The conclusion is that we seek to dismantle oppressive structures and promote a more equitable society that is aware of its own racial disparities.
