This study presents contributions from the foundations of Husserlian Phenomenology to Affirmative Therapy, guided by the qualitative approach, attitude and phenomenological method. Phenomenology as a methodological resource uses the exercise of epoché, the suspension of judgment in relation to the attitude of existence of things. Affirmative Therapy is a strand that consists of a set of theoretical assumptions about sexual and gender diversity, as well as a clinical attitude specifically aimed at developing a positive LGBT+ identity. We highlight how the phenomenological method and attitude are essential for welcoming and assisting LGBT+ people, respecting their idiosyncrasies. In addition to a change in naturalistic attitude in psychological knowledge and practices, it is important that psychologists intend to learn more about the discussions, movements and reality surrounding gender and sexual diversity, aiming to offer the best professional assistance and care to these people.
