Characteristics associated with lynchings in the state of Puebla (México), a psychological perspective

Abstract

Lynching has been part of a culture of violence both in the present and the past, this social phenomenon includes a set of assaults against whom a community judges to be guilty, although it is not proven in many cases. According to the data, when we talk about Mexico, Puebla is one the states with highest record of attempts of lynchings, this leads us to wonder what are the main factors that lead to the consummation of this event. To find an answer, the formulation of the psycho-criminological profile, formed by the victim, the perpetrator and the situation. The methodology is based on a qualitative approach, where the exploration of literature and the analysis of journalistic notes are used.
