Homeless population diagnosed with HIV/AIDS:
an integrative review
Keywords:
homeless population, HIV/Aids, healthAbstract
The homeless population is characterized as a heterogeneous population segment that has aspects in common: extreme conditions of poverty, fragile or non-existent family relationships and the absence of regular housing. The individuals in question have difficulties in being welcomed by the health services, mainly due to the professionals' inability to attend to this public in their specificities. The sexually transmitted infection HIV/AIDS is one of the main health problems in this community. In order to provide subsidies for a more adequate performance in health, especially in the psychological area, for the homeless population living with HIV/AIDS, an integrative review was elaborated with the objective of investigating the data in the scientific literature on the themes “street situation” and “hiv/aids”, conducting a survey of research carried out in Brazil between the years 2016 and 2022, specifically seeking studies in the Amazon region. After checking the following electronic databases: BVS-PSI, Capes, Lilacs, Pubmed and Scielo, three categories of analysis were elaborated: 1. Characteristics and vulnerabilities of the homeless population; 2. Strategies to facilitate the access of the homeless population to health services; and 3. Knowledge of the homeless population on HIV/AIDS. It is concluded that there is a great focus on exploring the weaknesses of the homeless population living with HIV/AIDS, without delving into the way of life of these subjects. HIV/AIDS is treated as just another vulnerability that affects homeless people. Few studies were found involving psychology and the Amazon region. It is hoped that this integrative review will be the impetus for carrying out studies involving the themes addressed, in the psychological context and in the territory of Amazonas
