Abstract

The objective of this writing is to present a brief report and analysis of the narratives about the experience of being the caregiver of a pediatric patient, of a mother of three children, the youngest of whom was hospitalized since birth due to respiratory difficulties. The methodology used was qualitative. The information presented was recovered through field notes prepared by a psychologist in training, under the supervision of two teachers from the FES Iztacala UNAM. This work is part of the social service carried out by students of this institution at the Hospital Pediátrico Tacubaya. The type of intervention in this institution and with this mother is based on narrative therapeutic accompaniment and the analysis presented is based on cultural psychology. At work, listening is emphasized as the guiding axis of the conversations, to understand the ways of interpreting and living the experience of hospitalization of a child, as well as the respectful, comprehensive, horizontal psychological support that tends to seek other ways of relating to what that we understand as problematic or conflictive.
