Abstract

This study approaches the effects on the professional training of indigenous teachers in terms of aspects of current research in line with the historical process of school education and racial inequalities in the Amazon. The text is the result of a study of the Doctoral course of the Postgraduate Program in Education (PPGE) at the Federal University of Amazonas – UFAM, when I came across foments of correlation with my research on racism in the Amazon. Racial inequalities are a fact that still permeates educational and social contexts, traumatizing and excluding indigenous and black peoples, impacting dignity and the construction of ethnic identity. Thus, this study aims to analyze the racial ethnic relations and why there is still the silencing of racial practices and prejudice with regard to socially explicit indigenous peoples today. It is noticeable that all educational contexts come from historical contexts based on the colonization process and alienated by the process of current modes of production. Thus, it is necessary to give new meaning to school education, respecting cultural diversity, so that individuals capable of acting and positioning themselves in the world can be constituted, valuing communication and racial differences among citizens.
