Abstract

PSYCHOLOGY AND RURAL THEMATICS: NA INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

ABSTRACT

We have an integrative literature review of articles from the areas of Psychologies and rural themes. We searched for texts in Portuguese in the CAPES Periodical Portal between 2014 and May/2019, with the descriptor "Psychology" associated with: rura*, context(s) rura*, environment(s) rura*, camp* – (*) as variants of the word. Of the 284 surveyed, there were 26 by the inclusion/exclusion criteria, among which: 22 research reports (15 of qualitative approach); research fields concentrated in the Northeast, Southeast and South; approaches of Social Psychology as main; priority use of the rural descriptor rather than countryside, peasant, peasantry. The topics categorized and discussed were: gender (10); work (5); epistemology (4); generation (2); human rights (2); race (2); education (1). We show that there may be use of other descriptors in the North and Central-West; there must be better understanding of rural/ruralness; consider the environment in psy formulations; there is no justification for creating a new psy area.
