Takiji Kobayashi was born on October 30, 1903 in Akita Prefecture, northern Japan. He became known as a proletarian writer with his work Kanikosen in 1928. He was even arrested several times on charges of opposition and subversion. His works converge literature, politics and the fight against social inequality.
