THE ODIOUS BODY BREAKDOWN: THE DIVINE FRAGILITY IN THE BONES OF GOD, BY YASUNARI KAWABATA

Abstract

Faced with his brutal and pressurious fragility, man, throughout history, has invested his future in predilections, hopes and fears, in an unceasing search for superior protection. Religion, even before dissipating into institutions, from which it extracts its doctrinal apparatus, protects itself from the ritualistic primitives of the past, its peace-making dimension, which, in the measure of neurotic supportability, cools the primitive desire for a lull in the face of an uncertain future . This is the literary conjecture of the neossensorialist writer Yasunari Kawabata (1899-1972), whose work embraces the dimension of the divine in its purest logic, leaving aside the insignia of helplessness. In this way, we propose to analyze, in the light of Freudian science, the aforementioned text, seeking, in its (dis) encounter with the biblical oratory, an exposition of human desire before the need to name the absence and, in effect, tame the forces that hurt life, that is, dying. For that, we will use the writings of Sigmund Freud (1927), Menezes (2012) and Françoise Dolto (1996).
