Abstract

We aim, from this article, to present two most famous poets in the history of Japanese literature: Ono no Komachi and Izumi Shikibu. Women of great beauty lived in an age - the Heian period - in which beauty was part of the small details of the vivid court. Women who shared their sentimental anguish, the pain of loss, female sexuality in a moment and a society in which women had little or no direct possession. Our work aims, therefore, to show the poetry of Komachi and Shikibu, as well as their lives and fill a gap with regard to Japanese literary studies on Brazilian soil.
