Abstract

This article analyzes how the terms resistance, hunger, social inequality and social exclusion are represented in the poems “The dirty bomb” and “A northeastern”, by Ferreira Gullar. Social poetry is a branch of literature studies that deals with political and social themes, exposing issues related to injustices or abuses of power in a society. The poems analyzed denounce the exploitation of the Brazilian population who are denied fundamental rights, the silencing of society and the lack of public policies in less favored regions. Thus, the analytical method was given through the contribution of the authors: Paz (1956), Candido (1965), Adorno (1973) and Bosi (2002). It was found that the chosen poems reaffirm the poet's commitment to the representation of reality and the social problems that plague the current society. Under this bias, it was found that Gullar's social poetry is capable of causing effects on the reader, allowing him to reflect on his attitudes and moral conduct in the face of socio-historical problems. The anti-values portrayed in the poems are relevant points to be reflected and discussed in the current scenario Brazilian.
