The present study aims to analyze the way Lygia Fagundes Telles prints elements of her existential baggage in the first person of the discourse in some fragments of the book A disciplina do amor, a work that is singularized by amalgamating the posture of author, narrator and character in one subject in the narratives. Based on this finding, in dialogue with the theoretical perspectives of Nilton Resende, Noemi Jaffe, Sonia Regis and José Paulo Paes, we undertake a brief survey in the layers of Lygia’s "self", circumscribed to the spheres of fiction and memory, in addition to shedding light on the artistic experience – or on the drama of creation – of the writer from São Paulo, in the expectation of proving that in the elaboration of the dramatic repertoire of the book under analysis there is no erasure of the author's traces, since memory is artistically constituted.
