This research analyzes some of the ways Gil Vicente's theater is updated in the northeastern cordel. In order of this, it uses as analytical method the Residuality Theory, created and systematized by the professor, researcher and writer Francisco Roberto da Silveira Pontes. From this perspective, focusing on the study of some of the residues of the Vincentian work that survive in the cordel, the work sequentially analyzes the presence of Vincentian characters in the cordel, some of the narrative strategies that our popular poets take back from the Lusitan playwright and, finally, elements of the mentality of the author of The Auto of Hell's Barge that remain in the string literature cultivated here.
