^{This article aims to discuss the construction of the female characters of the Mozambican author Mia Couto in the works O Outro Pé da Sereia and A Confissão da Leoa. Issues such as violence, pain, loneliness of the various women that are presented in the narratives are discussed. To base it theoretically, concepts of psychoanalysis are brought.}
