A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS BETWEEN AFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF IDENTITY

Abstract

Self-acceptance and the search for identity are subjects that we seek to highlight in this research, having as object of study the debut novel by author Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida entitled This Hair: the tragicomedy of a curly hair that crosses borders (2017). With an emerging and necessary theme for the twenty-first century, the general objective of the research revolves around affective relationships for the construction of identity, as well as the specific ones that help us to arrive at this search. For  the  theoretical-methodological corpus, we base the analysis, from the perspective of comparative literature, through the following authors: Abdala Junior (2016), through the text Literary comparativism and supranational communitarism, which addresses the issue of the enunciative locus; Bhabha (1998); Rama (2001); Ortiz (1940); Said (1990); and Stuart Hall (2003). Therefore, the theme presented and drawn through the hair  and the enunciative locus show how much external factors can build the framework for how we face the issue of identity, memories and transculturation. Given the complexity of these issues, addressing curly hair in an academic research context takes on significant relevance, as these are topics that instigate reflection, challenge ingrained conceptions, and offer alternatives to limiting and restrictive ideologies.
