BETWEEN WRITINGS AND EXPERIENCES: THE ROLE OF STORYTELLING IN THE WRITING OF CONCEIÇÃO EVARISTO AND PAULINA CHIZIANE

Abstract

The article entitled Entre escritas e vivências: o papel da contação de histórias na escrita de Conceição Evaristo e Paulina Chiziane, aims to analyze the position of the two authors in relation to their literary making. In this sense, this text focuses on the analysis of the literary works O Alegre Canto da Perdiz by Paulina Chiziane and Olhos d'água by Conceição Evaristo, exploring the fundamental role of storytelling and escrivivência in narratives. In addition, we aim to analyze how the authors use the art of storytelling to give voice to female characters and their spaces, emphasizing the resilience and unique experiences of these women. Therefore, we investigate how the works address postcolonial critique by reimagining traditionally silenced stories and highlighting the importance of representativeness. The comparison between the two works underscores how storytelling and writership can be powerful tools to explore themes such as identity, gender and history, providing a rich and multifaceted view on the female experience.
