MARCAS DE TESTEMUNHO EM ESTE VERÃO O EMIGRANTE LÀ-BAS, DE OLGA GONÇALVES
Abstract
The article analyzes the novel This summer the emigrant over there writer Olga Gonçalves, from a testimonial perspective. The work, which situates the Lisbon community in France and Portugal at the end of the 1970s, highlights the differences of being on homelands and abroad, when reporting the daily life and working conditions of emigrants, the ways of living and meeting, preferred locations and conditions of survival abroad. The perception of Portuguese society before the recent changes in the country is inserted in a fiction that seeks to assume a documentary character, by privileging the voices and memory of emigrants soon after the Carnation Revolution. The study sought to emphasize the theoretical assumptions of Walter Benjamin by associating them with the reflections on the testimony present in the texts of Márcio Seligmann-Silva.
