The purpose of this article is to present a different possibility to attract the 9th year high school students to start reading William Shakespeare as a form of literary literacy in a public school in the town of Parintins. Contact with Boi-Bumbá songs, especially those related to romantic relationships between couples belonging to different tribes, can activate a link between the Amazon tales and the history of the famous Romeo and Juliet lovers. From this relationship between the student's acquaintance, it will be possible to introduce him to the unknown that wait him in the Portuguese Language discipline.KEY-WORDS: Literary Literacy; Romeo and Juliet; Tamba-Tajá; Adana; Amazon Tales.
