Environmental Education through educational game “Super Trunfo® Agrotóxicos”

Abstract

Currently Environmental Education is an indispensable tool for changing the behavior of individuals facing social and environmental problems. The school represents one of the main spaces for the formation of environmental educators, making young students multipliers of changes in face of problems. Among the environmental problems that currently receive attention in Brazil is the abuse of pesticides, whose environmental damage is huge and already known, and most likely cause great damage to the health of the population. In this sense, aiming to promote Environmental Education for the knowledge about the problem of pesticide use, as well as the correct use of pesticides or non-use, this study aimed to make and test a “Super Trunfo®” didactic game. For the creation of the card game, several environmental themes and the use of pesticides were used. The game consists of a battle between cards that have values, cards that contain values that preserve the environment and show alternatives to the use of pesticides, “beat” those cards that were harmful to the environment and that contained the misuse of these chemicals. During the application of the game with elementary school students of a rural municipal school in the municipality of Dom Pedrito-RS, it was evident that the didactic game attracted the attention of the students, and that the dynamics of the game helped them to understand the problem of pesticides. . At the end of the application the students were able to articulate the damage from the use of pesticides and propose solutions to alleviate them.
ER -
