Faced with the lack of public health policies, traditional populations culturally resort to phytotherapy and self-care. Thus, based on their perception of the disease, these subjects develop prevention and treatment strategies against COVID-19. Thus, the present work consisted of investigating information about the perception and coping with COVID-19 in two traditional communities in the city of Abaetetuba, Pará. Methodologically, questionnaires were applied to residents and representatives of the localities to obtain an overview of COVID-19 and the strategies adopted to combat the disease. In total, 18 questionnaires were applied, 7 in the Ramal do Piratuba community and 11 in Ilha do Capim. It was noticed that non-pharmacological methods, such as social distancing and the use of food and medicinal plants, were applied in the localities to combat COVID-19. Eighteen species of plants were cited, including garlic (Allium sativum L.), passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims) and turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) used mainly to increase immunity and treat psychological damage caused by the pandemic. Most of these species are bought at fairs and herb shops, few are cultivated. Therefore, care for traditional communities is essential so that the culture and ethnobotanical knowledge of these peoples remain between generations.
Analynne Rodrigues Negrão, Kenneri Cezarini Hernandes Alves, Wendel Patrick Gomes Marques, Dyana Joy dos Santos Fonseca Copyright (c) 2024 Educamazônia - Educação, Sociedade e Meio Ambiente //periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/educamazonia/article/view/13723 Wed, 01 Jan 2025 00:00:00 +0000 ASPECTOS EPIDEMIOLÓGICOS DOS ACIDENTES POR ANIMAIS PEÇONHENTOS NO ESTADO DO AMAZONAS ENTRE 2018 A 2022 //periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/educamazonia/article/view/14406
Accidents caused by venomous animals are an important public health problem in Brazil and the world, as they mainly affect populations residing in more socioeconomically vulnerable areas, such as locations in the Amazon region, thus leaving this population more vulnerable. exposed to the risk of accident. The general objective of this study is to analyze the challenges and possibilities of full-time education in the Brazilian educational context. The specific objectives include: identifying the main challenges faced in the implementation of this model, exploring effective pedagogical strategies and discussing the benefits and limitations in the integral development of students. The methodology adopted is bibliographic, based on academic works and public policies that address the subject. The results indicate that, despite the challenges related to infrastructure, teacher training and school management, full-time education offers significant possibilities for the construction of a more equitable and integrative education. Among the challenges, the need for continuous investment, community engagement and curricular adaptation to integrate interdisciplinary activities stand out. On the other hand, the possibilities include increasing student protagonism, strengthening socio-emotional skills and reducing educational inequalities. It is concluded that, with strategic planning and collaborative partnerships, the full-time education model can be a powerful tool for transforming Brazilian education, promoting quality learning and social equity.
Claudimar Paes de Almeida, Romilson Brito de Azevedo, Precilia Achermann Vieira Copyright (c) 2024 Educamazônia - Educação, Sociedade e Meio Ambiente //periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/educamazonia/article/view/17242 Wed, 01 Jan 2025 00:00:00 +0000 The Context of Electronic Waste in the Municipality of Humaitá-AM //periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/educamazonia/article/view/14020
The study addressed the disposal of electronic waste in microcomputer maintenance establishments in Humaitá, AM. Valuing and recovering the knowledge of native flora in Environmental Education activities can be a strategy to help reverse this situation. This requires a new approach in schools and universities, and it is important to know how much is known by the students in different levels of education. This study proposes to verify if high school and college students in the biological sciences can recognize native, exotic and exotic invasive plants and place them in their correct categories. The study was applied in two educational institutions from central Rio Grande do Sul. A questionnaire and binomial test for classification of species common in the region the study was given. The percentage of correct answers in the classification part was low, however students demonstrated good understanding of the terms in the test. The level of knowledge was higher in the senior years of college. In general, students don’t know the species and are unable to classify them as native or exotic and exotic invasive, showing the need to invest in activities that promote understanding of the subject, and in actions that prepare teachers and future teachers to expand the themes addressed in science teaching and in Environmental Education practices. Graduation courses also need to address the issue, including it in the curriculum, so that the subject becomes more popular both in academia and for society in general.
The lack of research in the Vale do Juruá region focused on water resources and their relationship with communities, results in a lack of data that can contribute to the promotion of Environmental Education for aquatic environments in a participatory and transdisciplinary way, which can improve the sense of importance of rivers, lakes and streams for communities. The present study has been based on the analysis of the aquatic perception of students from two state high schools in the municipality of Cruzeiro do Sul, state of Acre, located in the Western Brazilian Amazon, and their interaction with the aquatic environment. The development of the activities occurred with the creation of engravings by the students in order to demonstrate their interactions with the aquatic environment of the region, and for which parameters were considered with elements that indicate forms of interaction with the aquatic environment, biotic components, abiotic components and anthropic components. When analyzing the interactions of students with the aquatic environments present, it was observed that rivers, lakes and streams in the region are known by students as an environment that they can use for their fun or entertainment, thus being represented as a form of leisure or tourist attraction. It has been widely used for medicinal purposes in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, as well as in traditional medicine. Its phytotherapeutic potential is due to the production of secondary metabolites that can act directly or indirectly on the body, potentially inhibiting or activating important molecular and cellular targets. This study aimed to identify the main classes of metabolites present in the ethanolic extract of A. vera through the phytochemical screening of the plant extract and to produce a by-product based on aloe. For this purpose, 750mL of the ethanolic extract of the plant material were used and subjected to phytochemical tests to detect the presence or absence of the evaluated classes through precipitation and coloration reactions. The results obtained from the phytochemical analysis of the ethanolic extract of A. vera detected the presence of all evaluated classes. The produced by-product was a soap that conferred the phytotherapeutic properties of aloe, which was distributed to a group of people who reported wound healing potential, increased skin hydration, reduced acne, and decreased skin spots, demonstrating potential biological actions associated with the aloe plant. It is considered that the ethanolic extract of A. vera contains the presence of secondary metabolite classes such as alkaloids, cardiac glycosides, coumarins, flavonoids, condensed tannins, saponins, and triterpenes. The phytochemical screening of the plant extract revealed the presence of all evaluated classes. Therefore, the aloe plant has great therapeutic potential and presents a significant number of metabolic classes present in its vegetative structures.
Igo Sarmento, Renato Abreu Lima, Lisandra Vieira Rosas Copyright (c) 2024 Educamazônia - Educação, Sociedade e Meio Ambiente //periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/educamazonia/article/view/16399 Wed, 01 Jan 2025 00:00:00 +0000 SOCIO-ENVIRONMENTAL CONTEXT AND PERCEPTION OF CHAGAS DISEASE IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF BENJAMIN CONSTANT-AM //periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/educamazonia/article/view/16835
The socio-environmental reality that disrespects social problems and their relationship with environmental problems become parameters for discussion and public policies to achieve sustainable development. In this aspect, in the state of Amazonas in recent years, Chagas disease has been increasing with cases in rural and urban areas of cities and one of the main factors that has been observed is the oral form of contamination of the disease. Therefore, this study analyzed the perception of urban residents and artisanal producers about Chagas disease and socio-environmental practices in the municipality of Benjamin Constant in Alto Solimões, Amazonas. This is a bibliographic, documentary and field study with a qualitative and descriptive approach. The techniques used to collect data were interviews guided by a semi-structured form containing questions about Chagas disease and socio-environmental issues. The support used for field activities were colored images of the barber bug (triatomine) and etiological agent, informative folder and photographic records. From the documentary survey, information was acquired from the Health Surveillance Units and the Health Department in the collection municipalities. The study reached a total sample of 115 individuals, distributed among 100 residents of the urban population and 15 artisanal açaí producers in the municipality of Benjamin Constant-AM. The general age range ranged from 19 to 80 years old and the gender that stood out the most was female. Finally, it was found that all two social groups interviewed were not aware of Chagas disease, but understand the importance of local socio-environmental issues in the region. It is understood that in the Alto Solimões region, in the state of Amazonas, cultural, social and economic determinants justify local environmental, public health and social inequalities issues. To this end, educational, environmental awareness and health education activities become necessary for the prevention of Chagas disease and socio-environmental practices as a focus in the structure of public management planning in the municipalities of Alto Solimões.
Sandra Núbia de Souza Assis, Renato Abreu Lima Copyright (c) 2024 Educamazônia - Educação, Sociedade e Meio Ambiente //periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/educamazonia/article/view/16835 Wed, 01 Jan 2025 00:00:00 +0000 A UTILIZAÇÃO DAS MACRÓFITAS AQUÁTICAS PELA SOCIEDADE: UMA REVISÃO SISTEMÁTICA //periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/educamazonia/article/view/16582
Aquatic ecosystems are vitally important for ecological balance and climate stability. Among the families that preserve the tradition of saving seeds, a diversity of knowledge about the cultivation and conservation of these seeds was identified. However, it is necessary to broaden this discussion with associations, cooperatives, unions and technical assistance, in order to preserve this traditional knowledge of family farmers.

Key words: Family farmers, seeds, tradition, community

Fernanda Torres de Paula, Maristela Marques da Silva, Carla Giovana Souza Rocha, Mayara Neves Santos Guedes Copyright (c) 2024 Educamazônia - Educação, Sociedade e Meio Ambiente //periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/educamazonia/article/view/15426 Wed, 01 Jan 2025 00:00:00 +0000 PERCEPTION OF RESIDENTS ABOUT CHAGAS DISEASE IN HOUSEHOLD UNITS //periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/educamazonia/article/view/16836
Currently, Chagas disease (CD) is an important public health, socio-environmental and socio-economic problem, since these insect vectors have adapted to a new ecological niche and as a zoonosis. Therefore, there is a need for prevention and control measures through the more vigorous participation of public policies and environmental policy to ensure the attention, confrontation and control of CD. Thus, this work is an integrative review of the literature that describes studies focused on the perception of residents about CD and its vectors in domiciled spaces, verifying what measures are being taken regarding the prevention and control of this disease. The 12 studies found showed knowledge about Chagas disease and its vectors, however, it is necessary to better understand human behavior, homes and the relationship that residents have with the environment and the spaces where they live.
Sandra Núbia de Souza Assis, Renato Abreu Lima Copyright (c) 2024 Educamazônia - Educação, Sociedade e Meio Ambiente //periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/educamazonia/article/view/16836 Wed, 01 Jan 2025 00:00:00 +0000 SOCIO-ENVIRONMENTAL CONTEXT AND PERCEPTION OF CHAGAS DISEASE IN THE ALTO SOLIMÕES MESOREGION //periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/educamazonia/article/view/16837
The socio-environmental reality that disrespects social problems and their relationship with environmental problems become parameters for discussion and public policies. Thus, this study analyzed the perception of residents of the urban population and artisanal producers about Chagas disease and socio-environmental practices in the municipality of Tabatinga-AM. The techniques used for data collection were conducting an interview guided by a semi-structured form containing questions about Chagas disease and socio-environmental issues. The support used for field activities were colored images of the barber insect (triatomine) and etiological agent, informative folder and photographic record. From the documental survey, the information was acquired at the Health Surveillance Units and the Health Department in the municipalities where the collection was carried out. The study reached a total sample of 115 individuals, distributed among 100 residents of the urban population and 15 artisanal açaí producers in the municipalities of Tabatinga-AM. The general age group corresponded to 19 to 80 years and the gender that stood out the most was the female. It was found that all the two social groups interviewed were mostly unaware of Chagas disease, but had already heard about the transmitter of the disease because they were seen in palm trees and in the urban area of the city. Therefore, educational activities of environmental awareness and health education become necessary for the prevention of this disease in the region.
Sandra Núbia de Souza Assis, Renato Abreu Lima Copyright (c) 2024 Educamazônia - Educação, Sociedade e Meio Ambiente //periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/educamazonia/article/view/16837 Wed, 01 Jan 2025 00:00:00 +0000 CONEXÕES VIÁVEIS ENTRE O PRINCÍPIO ÉTICO DA RESPONSABILIDADE DE HANS JONAS E A EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL EM MOÇAMBIQUE //periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/educamazonia/article/view/16838
This article examines the connections between the ethical principle of responsibility, formulated by Hans Jonas, and environmental education in Mozambique, analyzing how this ethical approach can underpin educational practices aimed at sustainability and intergenerational preservation. Jonas's ethics, emphasizing "care for the future," proposes an extended responsibility towards future generations and highlights the need to preserve the conditions for life on Earth. This study discusses the possibilities of applying this ethical principle in the Mozambican context, where the balance between economic development and environmental conservation is a constant challenge. The analysis includes examples of environmental education projects that, to some extent, already incorporate these principles of responsibility, showing how the appreciation of local knowledge and cultural practices can strengthen environmental ethics. It concludes that environmental education based on ethical responsibility is fundamental to fostering a culture of sustainability that respects both the local cultural context and global preservation needs, while also suggesting avenues for future research and educational policies.

Keywords: Ethics of responsibility. The Polyporaceae family is classified in the Polyporales order, Agaricomycetes class, and Basidiomycota phylum, which currently comprises about 31,515 known species, within the estimated 1.5 million fungal species. Members of this family are commonly called "ear fungi" due to the shape of the basidiome, which produces clavate holobasidia in a generally well-defined tubular hymenium. This article aims to analyze the biotechnological potential of the species Pycnoporus sanguineus (Polyporaceae) over the last 10 years. Research was conducted on electronic platforms using the following keyword combinations: Biotechnology, Pycnoporus sanguineus, macrofungi/fungi, bioremediation, medicine, pharmaceutical, environmental, human health, animal health, and environmental balance. The results revealed significant evidence of the biotechnological value of these organisms. In the context of this study, a total of 15 articles were compiled. Of these, 10 fit the proposed theme. Analyzing the period and types of publication of these literatures, it was found that the highest concentration occurred in the last seven years, mainly in dissertations. However, it is important to note that research on this topic is still limited in Brazil, with a relatively low number of studies conducted in the last 10 years. This highlights the need for investments and incentives to stimulate research in this area, in order to fully explore the potential of these organisms and harness the benefits they can offer to human health, industry, and the environment.
Laís Guastovara David, Jardson de Souza Aguiar , Flávio Filipe Barros Prestes, Felipe Sant’ Anna Cavalcante, Osvanda Silva de Moura Copyright (c) 2024 Educamazônia - Educação, Sociedade e Meio Ambiente //periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/educamazonia/article/view/16382 Wed, 01 Jan 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Dinâmica de uma comunidade arbórea de várzea no Parque Natural Municipal Porto Velho-Rondônia //periodicos.ufam.edu.br/index.php/educamazonia/article/view/16383
Floodplain forests are subject to flooding that generates the zoning of species into communities that are organized according to the flood level gradient provided by temporal differences and flood amplitudes.
